Charles H. Milby High School
As an Associate Architect member of the Kirksey Architecture AE Team, Huerta & Associates Architects’ participation included providing architectural services for the Design Charrette, Design Development, and Construction Document phases of the Project.
The 21st Century Milby High School is a new facility surrounding and preserving a historically significant structure. The design incorporates 40,000-sf of renovation with 240,000 sf of new construction. The building design retains the historically significant portion at the core as the “heart of the school” and wraps new construction around a central courtyard. This courtyard provides a unique outdoor learning environment for the entire campus community. The building is designed to achieve LEED silver and incorporates many sustainable design elements that focus on improving both the indoor and outdoor air quality and environment. The building program incorporates eight CTE programs that focus on project based hands-on and linked learning. Site amenities include baseball, softball, soccer, football and practice fields, tennis courts and a walking track along the perimeter. New parking will accommodate 425 cars at the North and South portions of the site with car drop-off to the South and bus drop-off at the North.
